In 1948, the UN General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), establishing a legal document that protected people's human rights. Thus, the commemoration, every December 10, of the International Human Rights Day was subsequently proposed, with the aim of creating an international legal framework for the respect and protection of human rights, as well as to establish the rights of all people.
In addition to the above, International Human Rights Day aims to promote commitment to the protection of human rights around the world.
In the field of diplomacy, human rights are the basis for dialogue, international cooperation, multilateral commitments, as well as the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
In addition, human rights allow for international cooperation, through various areas such as gender equality, sustainable development, among others.
Human rights are also the basis of humanitarian diplomacy, to address global crises.
Diplomacy must be an instrument to ensure the promotion and protection of human rights and to promote peace in the world.
International Human Rights Day reminds us that its promotion and defense constitute a tool to build a better world.
